myBurbank Talks Special: What's coming up in 2025

Craig Sherwood Season 3 Episode 2

As we step into 2025, the vision for Burbank News is evolving. Our aim is to better serve the community by addressing the needs and interests of our audience. Over the past few years, we’ve monitored listener engagement and realized that lengthy content didn’t resonate as strongly as we hoped. Although our podcast began as a comprehensive resource for information, the feedback indicated that brevity and focus were key. This led us to reformulate our approach and introduce the "My Take in Five" segment, which delivers sharp, engaging content in a compact five-minute format. This new direction aligns with trends in media consumption, where audiences appreciate concise and relevant information that respects their time.

The transition from a long-format program to succinct segments does not minimize the importance of the topics; rather, it emphasizes our commitment to tackling substantial issues quickly and effectively. From local news updates to national stories that matter, our goal is to create a space where listeners can find precisely what they're looking for in a fraction of the time. Additionally, we continue to value our field reporting, injecting real-world context into our discussions. Our ability to capture events as they happen allows us to remain a vital part of the Burbank community, bringing the news directly to the people in a relatable way.

In light of our decision to revamp our content strategy, we are not only focused on our local initiatives but also broadening our horizons with diverse topics that attract wider interest. Our podcast will still cover essential city meetings and community events, but expect them to be presented in thought-provoking, easily digestible formats. As we embrace new technology, experimenting with live broadcasts from varied locations, we aim to enhance viewer engagement and make the experience more interactive. While our podcast landscape changes, we are committed to addressing the community's concerns, suggestions, and insights.

Engagement with our audience is paramount. We encourage our listeners to reach out and share their thoughts on what they’re interested in hearing. The upcoming year will be filled with opportunities for listener interaction, including comments and feedback on various platforms. We invite everyone, whether local or afar, to connect with us through our growing online presence. Each visit to our website aids in our visibility and assists in garnering the support we need to keep providing quality content. By championing local businesses and services, we foster a sense of community that extends beyond the podcast.

As we embrace this new approach, we recognize the incredible support our audience has shown. We’re thrilled to expand our merchandise and potential channel membership options, which offer special perks and behind-the-scenes access to our content before it reaches the general public. This is our way of giving back to the community that has supported us throughout our journey.

Ultimately, 2025 is not just any year for Burbank News; it’s an invitation to engage, share, and grow. We promise to honor the voices and interests of the community, providing relevant and timely insights into both local and national subject matter. As always, we appreciate your feedback—what interests you, what would you like to learn more about? Your suggestions will help us shape the future of the podcast and ensure we remain aligned with our audience’s preferences. Here’s to an exciting year filled with opportunity and collaboration!

Speaker 1:

This is another edition of my Burbank News.

Speaker 2:

Hello Burbank and welcome to 2025. Craig Sherwood here and I will be your host, I know, could not resist. So what's going on with our YouTube channel this year, in 2025? We will continue to do all of our podcasts, including our business showcases. Ask the Mayor, coach's, corner, women of Burbank and all the other ones that come up. We've decided to end the week. That was and that will be after many of you said they really don't need all the information we provided and the fact that many meetings on the City of Burbank's website do not include staff reports or past minutes, which makes it frustrating to try and get information.

Speaker 2:

The show was first envisioned as a roundtable-type show, but evolved into a one-man show. It took about five hours to put the entire show together and the number of listeners and viewers did not grow, which meant people did not seem interested. And those who did, listeners and viewers did not grow, which meant people did not seem interested, and those who did watch it usually watched for about five minutes. What we will start, however, is a new segment called my Take in Five, which will be a quick, five-minute broadcast about a single subject, usually of topical interest. It will be as much of my take on a subject with as much factual information that we have. Think of it as a digital editorial. We will also make them not only for local but some national issues and sports, whatever or whatever something comes up. We will also continue to cover news and meetings when we can to bring you as much as we're able to do. We have a lot of great comments about our coverage of different events. We will also continue to do some remote podcasts as they come up throughout the year. We really enjoy going out in the field and it brings a different look and feel to the year. We really enjoy going out in the field and it brings a different look and feel to the podcast. We will also continue to branch into many different areas, provide some shopping items that may be of interest to you, or just some fun videos that we hope you will enjoy. We will also play around with trying to go live, sometimes from the studio, sometimes in the command center, sometimes from remote places. We are currently working on the technology, so expect a few bugs here and there as we work it out.

I always appreciate the people who come up and say they enjoy their videos and want to support us. There are a couple of things you can do to really help us at MyBurbank. First, you can visit our website. Everything we do is an offshoot from that site that we started 15 years ago and every time you check out our site your view is recorded, not personally, but for our stats to provide to advertisers. Number two is you can support the advertisers that advertise on MyBurbank If you take an extra second and thank them when you visit their businesses. It would be greatly appreciated.

Speaker 2:

Finally, you can help us by always hitting the like button on our videos and subscribing to our channel. You can also directly support us by setting up for channel membership right here on YouTube or visit our online store and pick up some great my Burbank merch. We will be expanding it down the line to include a general marketplace for many items. The advantage to our store is that all items are in stock and will be shipped locally by me. Channel members will also have access to our videos before the general public, as just one of the many perks. Finally, please comment down below and let us know what you think and give us ideas for our podcast or whatever you'd like to see us cover. Your opinions are important. Thanks again for watching and let's hope 2025 is a great year.
