The Week That Was and That Will Be - November 27

Craig Sherwood, Craig Durling, Ross Benson Season 1 Episode 75

As the holiday season descends upon Burbank, our latest episode of Burbank Talks is here to navigate you through the festive frenzy. We delve into the recent controversies, share secret turkey cooking tips, and celebrate the enduring spirit of our community.

One of the major topics discussed in this episode revolves around the recent school board meeting, including an intriguing email from a listener about board president Steve Ferguson. It’s always interesting to hear the perspective of our listeners and to have a dialogue about the governance of our city. Controversy surrounding the school naming event in Burbank, where certain city council members were not invited due to a personal disagreement, was also highlighted. It’s an important reminder of the need for open communication and cooperation in our city’s leadership.

The episode is not all about controversies, though. We also shared our personal Thanksgiving stories, the challenges of cooking a turkey, and the joy of spending time with loved ones during the holiday. Moreover, we highlighted the generosity of organizations and celebrities who provide free meals for those in need during the holiday season. It’s always heartening to see how people come together to support the less fortunate during this time of year.

For the food lovers, we discussed the delicious Truesdale sandwich at Paty's, a local restaurant next to Burbank. The secret to keeping the sandwich from getting soggy and some interesting trivia about its name were shared, adding to the culinary delights of the episode.

We also discussed upcoming events in Burbank, including a show at the Colony Theater, a joint program between the YMCA and the Conundrum Theater Company. These events and meetings not only provide opportunities for local residents but also contribute to the vibrancy of our city.

Lastly, we dove into our pet peeves. From the scarcity of 24-hour eateries to the annoyance of hitting red lights while driving, these shared frustrations made for a relatable and humorous segment. Despite the irritations, we all agreed that the festive decorations and spirit of Burbank during the holidays make it all worthwhile.

In essence, this episode of Burbank Talks is a hearty serving of laughter, insightful discussions, and a celebration of our community. It captures the essence of Burbank during the holiday season – the hustle and bustle, the controversies, the culinary delights, and the sense of community. Tune in to Burbank Talks for more insightful discussions about our beloved city.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 3:

How about all correct?

Speaker 1:

We'll go over the rules when it comes up.

Speaker 3:

These might be his show notes.

Speaker 1:

What happened these? These are the show notes Right here there you go, very important stuff. We don't have a lot for our show this just in. It's the holiday week. There's just not a lot of especially governmental business going on during Thanksgiving, christmas, new Year's holiday. Everything kind of shuts down, which is why we're off to a very slow glacial pace for this show.

Speaker 2:

We got a couple of things. First of all, last week's winner was Walter Dolan. Walter Dolan.

Speaker 3:

Walter Dolan.

Speaker 2:

Very good.

Speaker 1:

Strike of the Band, he won the $25 gift card to Hill Street Cafe.

Speaker 2:

Strike of the Band for him.

Speaker 1:

Striped up the Band. Good for him, good for him.

Speaker 3:

Good old Walter, remember him well. You could hear him in the hallway.

Speaker 2:

He hopefully enjoys his $25 Hill Street Cafe gift certificate and all the great soups.

Speaker 1:

Good time of year for soups too. Everything's homemade there the dressings, the soups, good stuff. So okay.

Speaker 2:

Well, to start with I want to do a little follow up from last week's show. Follow up. I kind of went into one of my tirades, of course, about the school board meeting and our board president.

Speaker 1:

Oh that one, oh that tirade Right?

Speaker 2:

Well, you know he talked about. He sat up there on his throne, I'm sorry. At the podium we were talking about he Ferguson, miss. Oh yeah, who is he?

Speaker 3:

Who is the?

Speaker 2:

School board president.

Speaker 3:

Oh, thank you.

Speaker 1:

You had to remember. There's the background. You're forgetful, I know.

Speaker 2:

And he sat up there on his throne or his podium or whatever you want to call it, altar and Pedestal, yeah, and he talked about how he gets down so well with all the city leaders. And he gets along, you know, and the problem is not the city leaders, it's the staff and the report. Justin Hess under the bus and we got Justin Hess back out of the bus again. He's doing fine.

Speaker 3:

Is that a Burbank bus that he's on the back of?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's why he didn't get hurt, because there's nobody on the bus to wait it down. But we got an email from a listener. See, we do have. We want to thank everybody for listening, because our Every week they don't ask me why, but he keeps going up a little higher every week as we go along and we're but we're also getting emails from listeners when they listen to the show, and here is a real good.

Speaker 2:

Here's a good yeah. So we got an email from a listener and they said they were very involved in the. We named it Dolores Hurdow Middle School from Jordan Junior High School or Jordan Middle.

Speaker 3:

School. The ceremony yes the ceremony. Right.

Speaker 2:

Very involved in the ceremony and listen to our podcast and said well, let me tell you about Mr Ferguson. When we went I don't think she said Mr no, she did not we went to rename that school order to have the ceremony. He did not want us inviting the city council members because he was in a little bit of a spat with them. So that's why, yes, talamontes and Bob Frutos were not invited and was told not to invite them, because there was some kind of an issue going on between him and the council members and didn't even say that.

Speaker 3:

He made a point of saying all they want to be is in the pictures, and that's it.

Speaker 2:

He just wanted to be in a picture.

Speaker 3:

Which takes the limelight away from Mr Ferguson. Yes, the team player.

Speaker 2:

So there's somebody who, waterboy, has that history. And then, of course, he cancels the meeting with the city council and claims it's because of city staff. Well, you know what? Those who are not learning from history are doomed to repeat it. And guess what? History just repeated a little bit with him and his attitude toward people. Now he can sit there and blame staff all day long, but he didn't let the, he didn't want the city council at their, and it's just the case. The city council has nothing to do with that whole thing, but it's a current. You invite the mayor, especially when you have Hispanic council members, and it meant a lot to them.

Speaker 1:

You know from but to go out of your way to not invite them.

Speaker 2:

And when they said, hey, we didn't invite the, and he said, no, don't invite them, he told this person don't invite them.

Speaker 3:

And Doris de Louris are at a.

Speaker 2:

Doris, doris.

Speaker 3:

Doris, doris, doris. I wrote on my pictures, doris, and I goofed up. It was Doris Doris, who I've gotten to know because I filed a graph to her. At other events, she's charming to be with. She is a very Caesar Chavez and her, you know her name is pretty big and when you come into Burbank like that, we're a small city, 17 square miles, you know, as a courtesy.

Speaker 2:

I'll be honest, I'd never heard of her. You know, Caesar Chavez, for years never heard of her. But once you named a school after her and all that stuff and you got to know a little bit about her and her history. You know, my only thing about that was she had no Burbank connection. That was my only thing was I was kind of going for a media air heart because she did fly out of Burbank.

Speaker 1:

I thought, okay, at least we have a connection in the city Right there's a nexus to the city Specifically.

Speaker 2:

And she's a very well known person, and. But you know what? We have no problem with what we weren't doing, but that's not either really the issue.

Speaker 1:

No, that's not the issue. It's not the issue.

Speaker 2:

Not the issue at all. The issue was he did not play nicely with other elected officials in the city, yet he claims at the podium that he gets along great with all of them. Yeah if you ask.

Speaker 2:

If you ask him even our vice mayor went up to the podium and that night and and talked about you know how other people misrepresented with what happened and how would a great relationship they all have, and which I thought was a little bit. Yeah, I got Just playing politician a little bit. That's why we call it the week. There was, or the issue, that was the anyhow. So that's our not a correction, but that's a little more behind the story. Well, we share, you know, we get emails.

Speaker 1:

We appreciate that email. What's a good email if somebody wants to give us feedback like that?

Speaker 2:

Now you can put news at my bring calm news at my Burbankcom.

Speaker 1:

Everything comes in, so I was appreciate feedback, corrections and kind of absolutely a little more context like this, like this one tonight.

Speaker 2:

If somebody has something, yeah, please, please, let us know. Yeah, if we make a mistake, you know we're gonna, we're gonna correct it and you know we'll even admit it. Well, I never make mistakes. I never admit it either. But I don't admit that I admit I make you must have a sound effect for that I don't know we're the flushing, or what we do.

Speaker 1:

Have that in fact Anyhow but it's deep being the holiday season, we are gonna yada yada right through Tuesday and Wednesday you know land on Thanksgiving Thursday, but Thursday 23rd.

Speaker 2:

Thursday we had a little Thanksgiving and then we want to we appreciate all the turkeys who made it through. And those who sacrificed and those who did sacrifice well, I'll tell you you cannot.

Speaker 3:

Can I just share with you? I feel sorry for my turkey. I, I smoke, my smoke, my turkey, your pipe and you've had, you've been over crazy in the backyard. I do I Smoke them in? I have a trigger smoker and had it for many years and every year everybody says, oh, the turkey is so moist, it's so delicious.

Speaker 3:

Well, I only cook turkey for my two granddaughters because my son doesn't eat Any meter foul or anything anymore fair so I Put a new what they call a hot box in my barbecue and I looked at the temperature for a half an hour and it was at 220 and it was go ahead and cook it for three hours. Well, I got up, I Went back to bed and I got up at three hours I looked. Temperature went From to 20 to 350. My turkey was a little dry, was it turkey jerky? Well, it could have been turkey jerky for. I was gonna make it soup out of it, but I didn't want to hurt anybody.

Speaker 2:

Your granddaughters made you feel good anyway by saying what oh, they loved it.

Speaker 3:

We just put more a.

Speaker 1:

Lot of gravy. I told you you send me a text too. And I said that's the current. Turkey was a little dry. I said that is why God invented gravy but my granddaughters.

Speaker 3:

I have pictures of them with olives on all five fingers. I made a jello mold and my granddaughter loved it and the best thing was when I, when I said, open your mouth, I took the whip cream and I sprayed it down their throat and the one it was so much she couldn't eat, she couldn't, she couldn't swallow it.

Speaker 2:

Are we sharing too much right now?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Mike.

Speaker 1:

I just can only imagine. I went to the. I went to the, the home of some, some, some friends. They had gathering of family and friends over there, about 15 people, and and it absolute feast. Some very good cooks in that group, I'll tell you, but it was. It's. You always want it somewhere to land on Thanksgiving, so only friends. You want to try to be somewhere. We've you and I've been friends for a long time. We've had, oh, we've had, thanksgiving dinners at restaurants before, but we were there together. You know what I mean.

Speaker 3:

So we have. Yeah, but I got a question for you. That tryptophan crap that's in they stuff in the turkey. Did it affect you like it did me?

Speaker 1:

no but Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2:

A myth. It's a my, they said, is the truth. To fan that's involved in a turkey has no effect on a person.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I want confirmation from an MD out there that's listening. Is it, is it a myth or is it not a myth? I do know Thanksgiving day usually Historically in my family ended on the living room floor watching football. Everybody just passed out everywhere.

Speaker 3:

This is the first year they didn't care what I wore. I wore some shorts kind of do.

Speaker 1:

Well, I guarantee they kind of there's some, there's a boundary somewhere.

Speaker 3:

Well, you're right, I didn't wear my all Bob shorts. Right, I wore some shorts that didn't have rostering, no belt, it was so comfortable, but you still wore suspenders right.

Speaker 1:

No, with your shorts I didn't.

Speaker 3:

And my granddaughter said you wearing different shirt? I said yeah, cuz I don't have suspenders.

Speaker 2:

That's my usual wardrobe every day. You know, I don't dress up for anybody and you had a.

Speaker 1:

You had a good Thanksgiving, craig the other yeah, being orphan.

Speaker 2:

Oh, it's easy for me. I don't have to worry about Family of any kind.

Speaker 1:

but you went. You went a little ways away and had a gathering.

Speaker 2:

I went to have my roommate my roommate to see his sister in CME Valley. You got permission to live back. I got the bubble.

Speaker 1:

I got permission to drop the shields for a long enough room, of course I didn't drive, I was gonna say, who programmed your GPS?

Speaker 2:

Oh no, so we went there and had some, had a little bit of the older and then, uh, drinking the eggnog. No, I didn't have, too early for eggnog, that's good. We have eggnog here at the house, but it, says he it's by the way. Altadena eggnog. If you can drink eggnog, altadena is the world champion. I don't know Gares. I've tried that, but to me Altadena is the world champion with the bolder and the Southern comfort.

Speaker 3:

Okay, I'll have to try it oh yeah, I've tried it, but Gares comes in the glass.

Speaker 1:

I still have my Huellhouser bottle. They make a nice chocolate milk too. They do very rich. Both are very rich, but the glass is really thick on those bottles, so there isn't as much in there as reminds me old, kind of like a good bottle of wine, like the old condition milk bottles. Yeah, it's the old bottles, it's a family owned dairy in Montabello that is threatened to be enclosed a couple times for freeway construction and things. Well, do I date?

Speaker 3:

myself. I remember Chuck the milkman. We bring our bottles of milk and put it on the wall Because our next-door neighbor had a German Shepherd who tried to jump up and get his hand and in the morning, when we woke up before school, we would have our milk.

Speaker 2:

We had the. We had the carnation milk man who came to our house. We had the Helms bakery truck down our street.

Speaker 1:

Oh, so what? The fire department was delivering some food around sound like what's your name on. You know it started as Edith and turned into an Archie, but I was trying to do it quietly too. Yeah well, I don't want any copyright both bunkers. I didn't want to do it too Well because we don't want any copyright.

Speaker 3:

License is amazing but the the fire department was delivering some food around you know, for many, many years They've teamed up with family service agency a Burbank, who we know real well. Oh yeah, they come up with a list of families that are people that are in couple of their homes and apartments and so forth, people that are. Don't get that. You know. Thanksgiving dinner and command performance who does our breakfast at care walk? They did their dinner at the Imagine the city. They donate all that and they donate like four to five thousand dollars worth of food and they cook it and they deliver with the aid of the Burbank fire department to 50 to 100 homes. They got the wheels. They have the wheels and they have the hands. Yeah, but you know, command performance, oh good stuff, he don't he does a lot of.

Speaker 1:

He does philanthropy in town.

Speaker 2:

Is that just a caterer? Yep.

Speaker 1:

Yep, yeah, yep and. But if you, if you eat breakfast at the care walk every year, every year, it's the pancake breakfast.

Speaker 3:

He that's all donated. So Lewis Lewis is the owner. He's handed it down to his son and Just hats off To command performance for supplying families.

Speaker 2:

There's a few, there's a few places all around LA that every year give out free meals and things like that, and then and they all, they all just really enjoyed it and they look forward to their their places.

Speaker 1:

You can go and and donate food. You can go and serve food at different shelters and things like that. But a lot of people you don't think there are people in need in Burbank, but there are people that don't have families, that don't have someplace to go.

Speaker 2:

You want them to have that something on you know, and I many times that you know, I watch the news a lot every night, you know, and, um, I watch. There's so many organizations that have their Christmas dinner a week in advance, they use in advance, or the Thanksgiving dinner in advance, and the celebrities all show up. You know, look at me, look at me, I'm on. You know, I'm so famous. Please, here's a photo op. But then there's the events that happen on the actual day, either be Thanksgiving or on Christmas, and when those celebrities show up On a day that is not easy where they could be doing things with their own family, and then you show up on those days. That's where I respect them. Yeah, not on the days they show up. Well, let's have this event five days in advance, so we get celebrities.

Speaker 1:

Like all the all the Christmas specials are filmed over the summer you know, you see on. Tv yeah when everybody's available, because everything's on hiatus.

Speaker 2:

I heard side story real fast but there was a side story, wonderful life, wonderful life, which we all what every Christmas Eve was actually shot out in Tarzana shot in July. It was 110 degree days most of time and at night they had a heck. They couldn't figure out how to get the Snow because they had to have snow, so they actually used Soaps and and soap, and that's what they use for the the snow and I guess it left a lot of problems and slipping and everything else, and yeah, but that neighborhood was never cleaner.

Speaker 3:

No, there you go, squeaky you know back to what you were saying about all these. You know, at the midnight mission at the laugh factory I can go down the list there's.

Speaker 2:

Those are also the event on the day, right but you know what?

Speaker 3:

I respect that those people that are down on their luck that you know they don't eat perfectly Like most of us. They're real grateful that I mean when you're cooking Turkey for 5,000 people, like they did for you know, down on skid row.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

You feel for those people and I'm glad that you know we we are. We're in tough times We've all been experiencing. They're really down on their luck and I guarantee they're all real grateful.

Speaker 1:

And we and we all in our own ways over the years have done a lot of volunteering and if you're looking for something to do over the holidays, you got some extra time. What a great way to give back to the community. Yep, you don't walk away feeling bad about your participation. You made somebody's day and holiday a little better.

Speaker 3:

And they always say when you walk away from that, you feel so much better. Yeah you're that much better for it. You think of what's going on on the other side of the world. You know this four-year-old that Well, parents were killed, you know in this and she's released now and she'll. She probably, at four, probably won't remember it, but how grateful you know, I'm sure she's gonna remember the ordeal itself.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's just the trauma of it.

Speaker 3:

Oh, I had four years old, that's gonna stick in the you know to climb under her dad who had been killed.

Speaker 2:

They said they said that the first thing they did was they took these, all these people, the hospitals, not only for a physical check but for a mental, mental, you know, they're all kinds of absolutely people standing by, you know and the drama of it all.

Speaker 3:

Grateful for Thanksgiving. We're glad it's here. There had to be here for another one. And then, you know, friday, yada, yada, I stayed in my shorts, oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

I ate leftovers all day.

Speaker 3:

I've still eaten leftovers.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I do, I am too, I've had a loaded me up pretty good, wouldn't let me leave with. I actually pawn some off on you today, bunch of peppers the whole. Because they gave me so many, I would never, never go through them all, so I know you would.

Speaker 2:

You're quite the I'm not left over person the chef. You're just hungover.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I just well, it's funny, my son went out of town Friday. They went to Santa Barbara with the kids and had to have me take care of the dog. Let the dog in and out. Well, I had the dogs out. Oh, I let them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think you heard that one. Yes, okay.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, we're always worried about Ross's.

Speaker 3:

It's musical aptitude for Bank high and they buy that one, I think For Bank high the Bulldogs. Anyway, you're saying so, I had finished my leftovers Thursday night in my second meeting meal so I had to go let the dog out. They had plenty of leftovers they took from my house. I just had. There's that dog.

Speaker 1:

There's that dog heaven. That's true, very triggering. That was Dodger, but it was not like Dodger the dog.

Speaker 2:

Come on I record that off a Dodger being bite my leg upset. They wasn't allowed in the house on podcast only when I'm here, apparently so I got to raid their.

Speaker 3:

There are Leftovers. And my son came back Saturday and they said we came back thinking we that we were gonna have leftovers and I left them enough for leftovers. You left him some overs. I did and I learned that my niece Loves ham. I bought a little tiny ham Never had ham in her life and she said papa makes the best ham. I just what's the worst time she's ever had.

Speaker 1:

That might have been it too. She doesn't know it yet. Hamstring.

Speaker 3:

So they were blown away, that might see. But they also got on to go home with Andes and other goodies.

Speaker 2:

Okay, well, that's it for the week. That was that zoom right through that not much for a week, that was, but that's what it is. So we have a quick commercial break and we will catch you back on the other side.

Speaker 1:

No happy birthday. No nothing on the board there, oh, mr Producer. Well, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

We want to wish somebody's stirring the pot tonight our one of our writers and and creative people, ashley Erickson.

Speaker 3:

She, he, she asked her son what he wanted for his birthday and he said I want a big party. She rented out the colony theater and she had the red carpet. He had the step and repeat. Everybody was in there, all his baseball friends and soccer friends. Step and repeat Definitely Pete for people not.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 3:

What's a well it said something to his birthday Right. Well, you have the backdrop and everybody walks by.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he didn't say champagne.

Speaker 3:

Speaker 1:

Oh, congratulations to my and special announcement here is At dinner tonight. You hi, you me. The other, craig, fried a new sandwich.

Speaker 3:

I did, but I want to know was a coleslaw on the bottom or on the top?

Speaker 2:

Well, it originally came on the bottom, but then, after some some coaching, a veteran Trousdale sandwich eater, yes, he said, turn that sucker over and put the coleslaw on the top. And so I did that and it was a very good Some truesdale sandwich patties.

Speaker 1:

That was a good. There was a hefty sandwich too.

Speaker 2:

I was, I would thought I was you know back at you know some of the delis, what the daily we've been to under the deli like a canter, is kind of a sandwich. Yeah, it was over.

Speaker 3:

But mile, mile, mile, high, mile high sand. It was about that. But you know, if that thing fell on your foot, forget about knee surgery.

Speaker 1:

You already limbs people say.

Speaker 2:

People say I have a big mouth, I still getting that damn thing, you know, around it.

Speaker 1:

So the truesdale is a great sandwich option at what's the place? Oh, that's right, patties. I almost forgot, but it's a. It's turkey.

Speaker 2:

Who's a waitress?

Speaker 1:

There's a coleslaw in the sandwich which I love now I went with a cheddar. He's done a switch cheddar and, oh, you could have rye or sourdough bread. I went so great sandwich, but what did you what? What is your overall opinion of it?

Speaker 2:

I give very high marks. I was very impressed with it. I enjoyed it immensely. I thought it was a great, this thing you know we are the connoisseur of many Diners in burglars. There's not much food that I haven't eaten. Trust me, look at me.

Speaker 3:

Well, crack drilling you have added.

Speaker 1:

At Lancer's you said it's a, it's a sandwich. You'll see at different restaurants and they all call it something different and we learned.

Speaker 3:

Why this?

Speaker 1:

one answers. On the other side A town, they call it the Empire Sandwich. Same thing. But at patties George the owner named the sandwich the truesdale Because he grew up in truesdale states. We named the sandwich the truesdale look at the information people are learning from all kinds of useless Information. I had to. I have to lose memories. I pushed memories of my childhood out to make room for this year's information.

Speaker 3:

Do they make a truesdale or an empire at Hill Street?

Speaker 1:

That used to be your home away from home. I know I'm trying to remember.

Speaker 2:

Well, you have new ownership, since you used to always go in there too, so the menu could be changed by now.

Speaker 1:

If not, I bet we can talk to you. I think there was a time I actually ordered like a version of that with coal, I said. I said can you put the coleslaw in the sandwich for me? And they looked at me sideways and they did it and it was the same thing. But the secret really is is if the coleslaw is in the bottom part of the sandwich, you get it at your table, flip it over real quick so the bread doesn't get soggy from the coleslaw. But you had a layer of cheese in there.

Speaker 2:

I had a layer of cheese on top and bottom.

Speaker 1:

That may very well have sealed off that problem.

Speaker 2:

On the top and bottom.

Speaker 3:

And what did we learn from that guy that does the burger dude guy, when he went and visited Gary Brick once?

Speaker 2:

And Gary told him that the only secret. You toast the bun and you put the lettuce below the meat on the bottom bun.

Speaker 1:

So that's the weather sealing. Yes, I like it, I like it.

Speaker 2:

But then what happens when you don't order? When you want to toast, say, hold the lettuce in your burger.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it kind of falls apart in here. So you got an A plus rating from me and the other, craig Sherwood. Yes, on the Trusdale at Patty's, try it out.

Speaker 3:

And I had the chicken. No, no, no, no. I got my tooth back in, got the chicklet in. I had the Chinese chicken salad that smelled good. The dressing smelled like a proper he cooked that chicken and had a lot of cool, because you don't put chicken in a coleslaw On a cold salad, cold salad. It was very good.

Speaker 1:

Well, eric, can you tell that this has been a real slow week last weekend, this week, because we're just, we are rambling about, you know speaking of Chinese chicken salads, though I think we'll both agree that the dressing can make or break that salad Definitely, and that smelled like a good dressing. It was, I didn't try it, but it smelled like a proper.

Speaker 3:

I got some more. I take some. Well, you got half of it on your shirt too.

Speaker 1:

No, I wore bibbed.

Speaker 3:

You did have a bib tonight, but I got half in the car. You want to take a spoon?

Speaker 1:

No, I'm good, I'm good. It'll give me something to order tomorrow when I'm at Patty's.

Speaker 2:

Well, well, you're saying eat tomorrow, because there won't be a city council meeting to watch, because once again they're dark.

Speaker 1:

Oh, so nothing to do on Tuesday.

Speaker 2:

Steve Ferguson canceled the meeting. Well, not really, but as well. They haven't had a meeting since he canceled the one party pooper.

Speaker 3:

Um, don't we have music to go with? Party pooper. What show am I thinking of? What show?

Speaker 2:

are you thinking of?

Speaker 1:

It's not this one, Anyhow any who there is something going on on Tuesday.

Speaker 2:

Yes, there is. There's going to be an event at the colony theater, making the colony theater from before. Yes, Um Ross, why don't you run that down for us?

Speaker 3:

Well, there is going to be a program. I know our Burbank Arts sent me a flyer about it. Fostering Dreams Project presents the Night of Dance and Youth Employment, power, power, employment. It's a job fair. And what caught me about this? If we recall, we talked about it on a broadcast about the colony taking over or running the colony, and the YMCA. This is a joint program with the YMCA, the conundrum, conundrum.

Speaker 1:

Conundrum, which is a great word, great name. It isn't the word of the week, but it's a great name for a theater company.

Speaker 3:

Well, but what they wanted to do? They wanted the two to merge or they wanted them to work together. Well, this performance We'll find out on the 20th.

Speaker 2:

I think the conundrum theater company is the YMCA. It's there.

Speaker 3:

It's there, it's there, it's there.

Speaker 2:

It's there.

Speaker 3:

It's there, it's there, it's there, it's there.

Speaker 1:

It's there, it's there, it's there, it's there. It's there.

Speaker 2:

It's there. It's there, no, also conundrum and get tickets at the.

Speaker 1:

I would think so. I would think so. So six o'clock open.

Speaker 3:

So if you're wondering, if you were watching the council meetings and all these kids got up and talked about the different theaters, what they get out of the colony, what they get out of the current Anundram Anundram very much, I got my tooth in but it's loose. Here's a good example. Go see the kids and what they do in this town.

Speaker 2:

Well, this is also a dance thing.

Speaker 3:

Oh they dance too.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this is a night of dance. It says so. If you're into dance, it'd be absolutely, but if you're into acting and stuff like that, you're probably not for you.

Speaker 1:

Well, I'll tell you I'd be another night.

Speaker 2:

That's another night.

Speaker 3:

Yes, you know even where the colony is convenient parking. They have their own entrance on the street or in the parking structure.

Speaker 1:

You drive a Tesla you can charge it up there. The parking is actually at the mall and part of the parking structure there, In fact as the second one level from the top, you can just actually park right next to the door and walk right in. Yeah, Good to know.

Speaker 3:

Let me have a handicap part so.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, respect the parking for me there too.

Speaker 1:

Well, it'd be great to see them working together and see how that works out. It's a good sign for the future, because I know it's been a great concern for everybody Right the future of the colony. So good, yeah, good.

Speaker 2:

Moving on to Wednesday, the senior citizen board is gonna meet at 1 pm at the Jocelyn Center.

Speaker 3:

No, Craig, you qualify, Craig. Sure would you qualify for that, I think, don't you? Yeah, sure, I'm real close.

Speaker 2:

I couldn't walk into the Jocelyn Center, probably no, they have wheelchairs, they have to walk, they have to wheel me in.

Speaker 1:

It is the senior citizen's board.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm bored too. Anyhow, wait a second, I have something for that.

Speaker 3:

Hello. Anyhow, that's a yes sir.

Speaker 2:

That was a Ross Benson request a couple weeks ago and I'm glad we have it now. Oh, isn't everybody these push-in buttons, by the way, I've got.

Speaker 1:

The producer's push-in buttons.

Speaker 2:

I've got a couple of seasonal ones.

Speaker 1:

Got some stuff loaded, locked in, loaded ready to go.

Speaker 2:

I put a couple of seasonal ones in for the future here.

Speaker 1:

All right, the salt and pepper paprika seasonings. No, that's not what he said.

Speaker 2:

Not a lot of the board to talk about, but they're gonna meet and those people are just glad they have somewhere to go and thing to do. There you go Thursday? Okay, thursday, now, here we go.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm looking around for things. I wanted to be to know what's going on in the city, but this is a very confusing thing.

Speaker 1:

This could be a contest itself is this is a cut and paste from their agenda.

Speaker 2:

Yes, this is putting it right out Is to decipher what this meeting is actually gonna be about. This is the city's website, and exactly.

Speaker 1:

I've never seen more acronyms.

Speaker 2:

This is the downtown Birmingham Transit-oriented development of specific plan EIR scoping meeting. Holy cow, boy, oh boy, which is the EIR stands for environmental report.

Speaker 1:

Environmental impact report I had to look later in the paragraph to see where that's actually.

Speaker 2:

It's from 6 to 8 pm, but you can only get it through virtual. They don't say Zoom but you have to wait until the day of the event and it'll send you a link.

Speaker 1:

It's gonna take from 6 to 8 just to explain what the meeting's about.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

My VCR is still blinking. What do you think it's about?

Speaker 2:

Basically it's about the downtown Burbank Transit plan and they're gonna get an update from, I guess, metro about something or other.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's a punt right there, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, I'm not gonna read this whole thing.

Speaker 1:

You want me to read it. You want me to read it, you want me to give it a good read. Well, you can read it, but and let everybody else figure it out. Yeah, go ahead, give it a read. The Community Development Department has released a recirculated notice of preparation NOP of the Program Environmental Impact Report, eir, being prepared for the downtown Burbank TOD specific plan. That one's not explained what a TOD is.

Speaker 2:

That's back in the beginning. That's a Transit-oriented Development.

Speaker 1:

Transit-oriented Development, as previously mentioned, and is hosting an online virtual community meeting, a VCM. At the meeting, the city will provide an update on the project and solicit input on the EIR being prepared for this project in relation to adjustments being made to the development potential for the project area Now are they serving refreshments before or after. No idea. Hopefully during, because somebody's gonna need a break.

Speaker 2:

Like I said, a link is gonna be provided the day of the meeting. They're hoping nobody gets the link and they just don't go home there, or they don't.

Speaker 1:

They're on the hook to explain what this is about. Then People actually watch the meeting. They'll have to explain it.

Speaker 2:

Anybody watch that meeting? Please send us an email and give us a rundown.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you're a temporary reporter for my Burbank. If you can appear either recorded or live next week and explain what the meeting was about.

Speaker 2:

And if you don't want your name used, we'll be glad to keep your anonymity, because you may not want people to know you actually live to that meeting I got it, I got it, I got it.

Speaker 1:

I got it, I got it.

Speaker 3:

You read that pretty damn well, because I was following along and and that was cold too.

Speaker 1:

That was right off the.

Speaker 3:

But the acronyms.

Speaker 1:

You know I used to work alongside the federal agencies in the past and I've never haven't seen that many acronyms since working with Feds.

Speaker 2:

Well, moving on to Friday. Thank God we're moving on to Friday. Wow, we're gonna have the Betsy Luckey Creative Arts Center Holiday Poutique. What, what happened? I pushed the button max. I pushed a button and nothing happened. Boutique boutique. Well, you know, I messed up because we put it in the second paragraph, not the first paragraph, so I wasn't ready for the button.

Speaker 1:

That's it, folks. Boutique is the word of the week.

Speaker 2:

That's it. So send us the email to contest at my bourbon calm, give us the word boutique, and we will be glad to enter you into the concert Now should they put that boot the word in the subject line or just say word of the week in the subject line. Put the subject line too. Okay, yeah, and, and the respondents will be entered into a random drawing a drawing, or the $25 Alexa to pick a number and whatever that is, they get it or beloved hill street cafe.

Speaker 2:

And remember we can only win once every once every three months. So if you've won the last couple weeks, you know I guess uh uh, wall through this week will not be in the contest.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm just curious. You can still play, you just won't just can't win yeah what can you find at the wonderful boutique oh? That's right. There was actually a story attached to this, wasn't there is?

Speaker 2:

My noops. You can find a wonderful, a wonderful, wonderful collection of pottery, jewelry, paintings, pre-ordermans decorations, closing knitwear and much more much more.

Speaker 1:

If you order now the next 20 minutes, is that a k? A k-tail product will include this set of ensue knives.

Speaker 2:

Um, so yeah, the items are created by students and instructors at the Betsy Lukey creative arts center and members of the fine arts federation. Ah, so it's a great place to do some holiday shopping.

Speaker 1:

When is that? That is Friday. Oh, that's this Friday. Friday nine to five. That's kind of cool.

Speaker 3:

That's pretty darn cool.

Speaker 1:

That'd be worth taking that in. Be nifty and it's called the holiday find those last minute or, you know, last month, christmas gifts, yeah, holiday gifts for the family and I haven't last minute. You're talking, that's it's December 1st, but you know it's called the holiday holiday boutique boutique. Somebody have two feet of note the time, something else else to fix and post-production.

Speaker 2:

No, that's not being fixed, you can you can figure out what we do.

Speaker 1:

that 34, that one, all right anyhow so.

Speaker 3:

And that's being put on by the members of the.

Speaker 2:

Like I said before, the fine arts federation and the, that's the Lukey creative arts center. Members.

Speaker 1:

Cool, excellent on students. Okay, so the weekend, I guess we're gonna have this weekend, we're gonna have another big event DIG, which we, which we've confirmed at this point the the dig, it doesn't stand for anything, it's just answer dig but they put in capital letters every time, as though it does stand for something.

Speaker 2:

I keep thinking every time I see it. We need to come up with a our own acronym for it, or actually that's the acronym.

Speaker 1:

We just let them do it. Yeah, we don't want to get ourselves in trouble now. Digging in garden but that's the Jocelyn center from 8 to 10 am. Is that on saturday or?

Speaker 2:

sunday, that's, on saturday, december 2nd, yep from 8 to 10 am. All right and uh. Later that night we got our big event in burbank, so the big one the big one, big, big big. We have the mayor's tree lighting ceremony at city hall at 6 pm. Rain or shine.

Speaker 1:

Well, trees live outside, so they don't care.

Speaker 3:

So, well, if you drive by city hall, what got put up today? A tree, a tree, a tree a tree.

Speaker 2:

Gotta have a tree, a real tree many years ago I used to dead tree, but a real tree, a real tree. It's a dead tree.

Speaker 3:

Oh, there is now Real it's organic.

Speaker 1:

Yes it's made of organic materials dying slowly as we speak.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, well, many years ago I'd get up at 6 am. They'd close off all of them. They'd bring in a huge tree, huge, huge, huge. They had a crane Lifted up over the fountain and they took one of the tile pieces that are on the steps there and they took it out and they planted. They would shave the tree down so it goes in this hole and then the parks and rec employees would come out and decorate it. And today I don't think I saw any lights on that. They didn't come decorated, but there's a tree in front of city hall now.

Speaker 1:

Oh, and the lights are going to be turned on At 6 pm.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's a start. A ceremony starts 6.

Speaker 1:

I think we're shortly there, we want to get a good spot around 6 45 by the time you get to the lighting. Okay, and that's saturday or sunday, that is saturday night. That is also saturday, okay.

Speaker 3:

And they got they'll. They'll have music. You can sit with Santa Claus, you can, I believe right Christmas. Listen to the guy he's. Where did that come from?

Speaker 1:

All right, I think you the south, the north pole just do this If you're gonna sit on anybody's lap, make sure it's the actual Santa Claus.

Speaker 3:

That was yeah, I heard you there.

Speaker 1:

Christmas. You can job of the hut.

Speaker 2:

It does, doesn't it go by?

Speaker 3:

skywalk off you in pass, you could write letters you might as reindeer there.

Speaker 1:

Wow, it is a slow week, isn't it? We're going through all the sound effects, but that's, that's always cool. A nice christmas, big holiday, christmas tree it was off olive.

Speaker 3:

Santa Claus comes, santa Claus, merry Christmas. In fact, you know who usually drives Santa Claus.

Speaker 2:

Rudolph, the fire department, doesn't it? No, no, the reindeer.

Speaker 3:

Oh, oh, you're right, they do put him on a fire truck.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's what I thought. You gotta do the same thing every year.

Speaker 3:

Oh, you know who brings some? Yes, who will help him light the tree? Mrs Claus, one of our advertisers, richard, but retain from pertain eskibar financial.

Speaker 2:

Oh, he has driven his classic Car oh okay, classic goes to say you know?

Speaker 3:

led. No, he put. No, you slay me. Last year santa showed up on a on a on a trike. A trike. He rides in on a trike.

Speaker 1:

I'm someday will ride a motorcycle.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's a big motorcycle.

Speaker 2:

Is an engine on this trike, or is it just?

Speaker 3:

oh, it's got a big engine, okay, but they change it up.

Speaker 1:

You know and it's cool. So go just to see what kind of if you have kids or if you don't ride, santa's gonna arrive On yep.

Speaker 2:

We got two sound effects at once.

Speaker 1:

We can multitask but next week we got something to look forward to after two weeks of like no meetings. What's next week?

Speaker 2:

We have four city, eight city meetings in four days.

Speaker 1:

Four days.

Speaker 2:

once again, I am a man, we can't figure out how to have so the separate days, separate meetings, we have to have them all at the same time.

Speaker 1:

So they getting all their meetings done before the end of the year. Is that what's?

Speaker 2:

happening. No, it's just when they schedule it. You know, they might say the first monday of every month, Instead of saying how about the second monday of every month or the third monday of every night? It's all the means first monday of every month. I don't. I don't understand.

Speaker 1:

And that's not even your pet peeve for the week.

Speaker 2:

That's not my pet peeve, but that's. I just find that once again. I say it over and over again there are other days.

Speaker 1:

Why they?

Speaker 2:

can't prepare better.

Speaker 1:

There are other days in the week.

Speaker 2:

I do have little pet peeves this week.

Speaker 1:

Now we've got, is there a sound effect for this? We need a theme song for that.

Speaker 2:

We don't come up with something here. Oh, something, I'm not sure what you know. Of course, my favorite sound effect would always be but that makes that does not have anything to do with it.

Speaker 1:

Anyhow back to my days in boston.

Speaker 2:

So my pet peeve you know, you know, I guess, I guess that was a good sound effect for this is yeah, we talked before about 24 hour restaurants in burbank and the lack of them lack of them.

Speaker 2:

So here's what. Here's what I found. So for about 11 o'clock on friday night and a friend of mine and I you know he was working some sport of a sporting event and came by and said what's the thing to eat? And Bjs over on first and ang Stellenow and walked in. I hobbled in because you know I don't walk very well, and I said yeah, yeah, we got to. Can we have a table please? And I said no, we can't give you a table. You have to go sit in a bar stool or sit in the booth. I said well, I really don't fit the booth very well and I can't because my my knees Sin on bar stools.

Speaker 1:

They said sorry, I gotta go, yeah because they don't have staff for the portion of their restaurant that well there was.

Speaker 2:

There was five different tables in use in the table area. Now I'm sure they were seated before, but it's not like there was nobody in there. And how To help somebody who really doesn't. Yeah, I just don't move that one. And you know, try to help somebody, you know they think they and I told them comedy and.

Speaker 2:

I told them, I said I can't do that and I said, oh well, so I mean you're talking about an extra 20 feet, now talk about the other side of the restaurant. So we walked Just very up, very up same, because I've always enjoyed BJ's does. It's a great place. We used to go there and watch the last morning games, everything else, and I really didn't realize how sometimes you know how handicapped people do have difficulties at times and and I was just disappointed in their attitude towards the situation and you know.

Speaker 1:

So we walked didn't sound like it would have put them too far, or their way to accommodate you.

Speaker 2:

No, I really wouldn't have been. It was very simple thing, but they just didn't want to. You know, it's like that's too bad. Yeah. So here's what we did. We went, we're driving and I went to the the Alexa app, as always, and said, no, it's an important eat around here first. It gave me Um 大家好.

Speaker 1:

Oh my gosh, you're right.

Speaker 2:

And so we go by there and guess what, there is no handicap parking anywhere around there. We went into the parking structure no handicap parking. You're in front, no handicap parking. So once again couldn't go there. I can't do all that walking, so no Barney's beatery. So I back to Lex again, and she's and I like to have with I hop, I hop, yes, I hop, you idiot.

Speaker 1:

They didn't want to, I hop. We've already determined that he doesn't hop.

Speaker 2:

So the I hop on that Fernando and what's across and walnut is a 24 hour restaurant. Now, I didn't know, I didn't know it was 24 hours.

Speaker 1:

So there are two. Oh, we got that and Denny's yeah, so we've doubled the number of.

Speaker 2:

so I didn't know there's 24 hours, so we went there and here's another thing $4 and 69 cents for an iced tea. We're talking water and a little powder in a glass, right? $4 and 69 cents for an iced tea we were talking about hours, not in a row. I don't mind, you know making a profit and things like that, but you know that's like, that's just gouging.

Speaker 1:

We were talking about that at dinner a little bit and that's kind of. We're in agreement even with Heather, a server, that that's where a lot of restaurants, even McDonald's and fast food places, they make a lot of their profit on the drinks on drinks you, especially if you go to a restaurant in order like a juice and orange juice and apple juice. You pay $4, $5, $6 for a glass of juice, but $4 and 69 for a water with a little powder again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's so. I mean all the drinks for $4 and 69 to, not just the, I mean all the drinks there's water, glass of water and bring your own tea bag. And a service was actually not very good, but the food was good and we got pancakes. They had pancakes.

Speaker 3:

I have pancakes, but they're 24 hours.

Speaker 2:

That was the thing we found out.

Speaker 1:

The positive take from from this pet peeve of yours is that we now know of you 24 hour restaurants left in Burbank and finally they're on up the kind of opposite kind of sides of town, which is nice. Yeah, but just down here near the media spin on that pet peeve.

Speaker 2:

That's in the media district. Of course we're not in the media district.

Speaker 1:

We're not in it anyway, so we've come to find out.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and then the last part of the pet peeve.

Speaker 1:

Oh, geez, this is like a three part.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean, this is all happened at the same the same night.

Speaker 1:

Happy holidays for the holidays everybody. You got a bonus pet peeve.

Speaker 2:

We're coming home and every light we hit, every light, red light, every red light, and you know, I just have to have lights in it. But to sit there and wait at every intersection for a light to go through a full cycle, it's just ridiculous. When there's no cars coming, the other these things, we're in the 20, 23 time now. I mean we have sensors on all these streets, everything else. Why can't they, you know, you know, change the signal every so often, but if there are no cars hidden the sensor change it back to where this car on the sensor is, at a certain time of night, a certain volume of traffic.

Speaker 1:

when it hits that threshold, it should weigh more heavily on the sensor. I would say between 11 and five or something there's nothing worse than sitting in an intersection, being the only car in view anywhere, and you're sitting there at a red light and now, with the flashing crosswalk signals right you. It's like that's even worse because if that's, that little walk signal is still on the other side. You know, you're that much further away from your light changing.

Speaker 3:

Well, when I get to Glen Oaks and Scott you know to go up, continue above Scott, above Glen Oaks. If you go over that sensor by three sixteenths of an inch, you sit through.

Speaker 1:

Oh you, if you miss it, it's easy to miss. Six different cycles yeah, I know it, in days past, like all of you, go one end to all of to the other through town the lights, I guess, depending on the time of day, but used to be phased at 35 miles an hour the speed limit. So if you went the posted speed limit and you hit the cycle at the right time, you had green, green, green, green green all the way, all the way from one end to the other.

Speaker 2:

It's like coming down from the airport, a highway. Yeah, you're going from north to south and you're going at 35, you go all the way down by Alameda and never stop, but you come up that same way, forget about it. You're probably stopping at least every other signal. So I'm not sure how they figure the timing out. But my thing is this why not set these computers for sensors from like 11am to 5am, 11pm to 5am, so that you know people, you know what people are? I see people run the lights when they just sit there and there's nobody coming one way or another, and then you come up to a signal and boom, they just they're not timed to start with. And then you get there and then you're waiting for nothing. So, anyhow, pet peeve, traffic engineering and also the engineer of the week is this week, you know, because the guy who put all the flashing yellow lights in there, flashing yellow arrows, he's gone. Who knows who the traffic guy is this week.

Speaker 3:

We have the same person that's been there for a couple of years. No, but, I, bet nothing's ever been said to him about it.

Speaker 2:

I bet he's not listening either.

Speaker 1:

Just because it was probably a traffic commission meeting at some point. That's true, you can go to and speak to them about it and bring that up, but lest you think that because it's the holiday season, you're going to miss out on Ross's rant, oh, no, no, no, no, no my round is a little bonus rant, but we got so lucky we got into show with Ross's rant, we got a can't cap it. Everybody tunes in for this, I think. I think, so Ross's rant.

Speaker 3:

Ross's rant. Ross's rant. I've been, I've been thinking of this one. Oh my goodness.

Speaker 2:

If you recall, I feel a steam.

Speaker 3:

That's my line. Last week I forgot one of my rants and I'm in the car driving home. You go, darn it. I know what I wanted to say.

Speaker 2:

That's why we have a run down. You can actually do say that I did best argument is always on the drive home.

Speaker 1:

Yes, when you think of all your best stuff.

Speaker 3:

I was thinking that you know, this Halloween we had some fantastic decorations in the city Burbank. I know there were a lot of people writers and different people in the industry that had a lot of free time on their hands.

Speaker 1:

You also have a lot of set decorators and people and all that that.

Speaker 3:

Well, I hope, you hope, with Christmas upon us, we get to see you, okay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I hit my mic Sorry. Oh, I'm an amateur.

Speaker 3:

I've never done this before I hope that we see some real great decorated houses this year, because those same people I'd have time to climb up in their attic.

Speaker 1:

Well, I'll get back at work now, but not till not all of them, and it's always worth a walk by Lily Lily Hall.

Speaker 3:

My roommates have gone back to on more park. Well, your roommates are too. There's a lot more. I saw a lot more people picketing and I never saw your roommates picketing, because they're not. They weren't on strike, oh see.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so what was your rent? So?

Speaker 3:

I hope to see a new fancy decoration. Holiday cheer, that's what it is. You know, think we talked a minute ago oh, no, actually now 24 minutes ago about Thanksgiving and being grateful. You know, light up the neighborhood. You might cost you a little more as the electric bill, but you know, honestly, let's decorate and everybody knows their neighbor.

Speaker 1:

The neighbor that does does it up for the holidays. Well, what movie was that? I mean Christmas Vacation. It's on constant rotation at my house now. It's a holiday tradition.

Speaker 3:

You want to know where that was. Part of that was filmed Probably right here in her bank, which isn't there anymore.

Speaker 2:

Her bank is not here. Thanks God.

Speaker 1:

Although the ranch, oh hell yeah, the house that it was that's right, and I saw it being torn down to.

Speaker 3:

you sent me that the video, the video of the guys showing that house that it was.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I didn't know, and even the round windows and the attic that Clark looked out at, all that it's all gone, it's all gone.

Speaker 2:

I never saw the movie, but I've never seen a Christmas story, either the one with the kid or whatever. I've never seen that one.

Speaker 1:

It was the beaver. That house is in Cincinnati, though, but okay shame on you.

Speaker 2:

I hate Christmas.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh Post production Go ahead and cut that out.

Speaker 2:

5914. I hate, I hate everything about it.

Speaker 3:

What movie we don't hate? I do. That movie was Macaulay Home Alone.

Speaker 1:

And I just never actually saw that.

Speaker 2:

I just saw that. You've seen that I didn't say.

Speaker 3:

I hated it. I didn't see it. I just saw that they're going to give him a star on Hollywood.

Speaker 1:

No, they don't give those away.

Speaker 3:

Oh, they cost 40,000. They get paid for by the people that get the stuff.

Speaker 2:

Yes, he bought his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Speaker 1:

That's usually how it works.

Speaker 3:

That movie was done ages ago.

Speaker 1:

It's like 82 now.

Speaker 2:

I'm like that. I think he still looks the same too.

Speaker 1:

He's old, he's going to be at the senior center this weekend. No.

Speaker 3:

But you know what movie I hear, mrs Doubtfire was done 30 years ago. A lot of the actors, except for Robin Williams. Robin Williams, they want to do some type of the guy that wrote it, that wants to do part two of it and without Robin Williams in it.

Speaker 2:

A little hard because Robin Williams kind of a movie, he kind of made the movie. He did, but all the actors although I will say one thing I did hear today that making a remake, where they're doing a sequel, a spinal tap, with Lenny and squiggy.

Speaker 1:

No, Lenny was in that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and they're actually, they've already got confirmed. Besides the original actors, they've got Elton John and Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney will be a pretty good said.

Speaker 1:

Garth Brooks. Craig's going to there. I'm already. I already got my ticket. I'm ordering my ticket now.

Speaker 2:

Mark Brooks is a is I know your big country family is. Mark Brooks. I worked one time when I used to do shows and he was doing a college in American Cinematheque. It was a some kind of a tribute to somebody and one of my jobs was to greet the town as they came in. And he comes walking the back door at the hotel down in in what Barely Hills the.

Speaker 3:

Beverly Hills hotel.

Speaker 2:

The hotel comes in the back door and he's carrying his guitar. I go oh, mr, mr, can I please Are we going to take that? He goes. Man, you don't worry about me, I got this. You know I don't need special help, just it's all you know. I mean, I'm going to say myself what a really down to earth guy.

Speaker 3:

Very much. So what a lot of know about Garth Brooks.

Speaker 1:

You asked, mr, someday I'll tell you, tell you my, my Garth Brooks, billy Joel, dick Clark story. Well, you know, maybe when we have a quiet week we're only one, oh one is this thing. No, I'm going to save that one. You know last week.

Speaker 2:

I had a lot of people tuning into the future now to wait for that, so you got to leave them wanting more.

Speaker 3:

Last week Garth was on Kelly Clarkson. He's now in New York and what a show. I mean he he had her in tears and then he was singing and she chimed in and it was just like you know.

Speaker 2:

I'm not a big, you know, garth Brooks, I'm not a country music fan. I respect the music. I respect, you know, the John run. I respect people who do it.

Speaker 3:

Just a class act.

Speaker 1:

He really is negative Nancy over here.

Speaker 2:

Well, this guy. I grew up in the hair band era.

Speaker 1:

I can tell.

Speaker 2:

Yep.

Speaker 3:

Good old Garth, he's good old Garth Last last act.

Speaker 1:

Stay tuned, I'll tell that. Share that story at some point Well you know what the rundown?

Speaker 3:

we only had a 20 minute show.

Speaker 1:

I don't know who sneezed or what we stretched nine minutes of content into 63 minutes. We are good If you're still here. Boutique is the word of the week.

Speaker 2:

Oh, hold on, we need to find the wrong page. I was on the Santa page.

Speaker 3:

You see, you know I do watch Kelly Clarkson on the rerun quite a bit and at the end of her show and a lot of news broadcasters are saying it If you don't like what's going on, change it. Do something good in your community, and now's the time that we could all see a smile.

Speaker 1:

You have opportunities in there.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you know, from it's a holidays and if you're shopping, you know, be nice and be pleasant.

Speaker 1:

Leave something in the tin cup.

Speaker 3:

There you go.

Speaker 2:

That's about it for me. All right, I'm out I don't know, I don't agree with that sentiment, but I'll save that one for now.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's a big surprise, Big surprise. You, curmudgeon, you're outweighed Curmudgeon, you know who that is.

Speaker 2:

Now, I'm not outweighed, trust me. All right, okay, that's it. Another week that was in the week that will be. We thank everybody for tuning in. If you did, if you didn't, we don't care about you.
